Regression - After installing Nvidia graphics driver 304 unity is slower and freezing

OMG! Unity!

Today i downloaded the ubuntu 12.10 beta 1 and installed it on my pc.
Its everything okay, but after i installed the driver nvidia 304 and rebooted the pc is unusable!
Its EVERYTHING SLOW!

After this problem, i changed to the nouveau driver and its everything okay now.

I installed again the nvidia driver, and again the same problem, after this i installed the GNOME SHELL, in the gnome shell is EVERYTHING OKAY!, but when i change to unity the system is super slower and is freezing

Graphic card: Geforce 6100 nforce 405
Ubuntu 64-bit
Processor:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+
Memory: 1,7 gb

when I disable "framebuffer object" and "always use buffer swapping" in the settings of compiz, the performance of unity is EXCELLENT!, test glxgears I get 1700 fps, but when I enable these options unity is extremely slow and I'm with 400 fps!

MY SYSTEM HAVE THE LAST UPDATES!!! (sudo update-manager -d)
