Bug Description

An existing compiz plugins stopped working. It is important for users that might have been using the plugin before.

[Test Case]

1. Open ccsm
2. Enable the firepaint plugin
3. Use the initiate button/keybinding
   - Make sure there is a fire effect (or other particle-like effect)

[Regression Potential]

No obvious regression potential.

Original description

firepaint doesn't seem to do anything any more, other than dim the screen.

Strange, because I tested it a couple of times in recent months.

Bisected. The cause is indeed the gles2 merge:

This branch contains the code to make compiz work on GLES. This includes
several changes to the compiz API.

I'm using intel graphics right now and it doesn't work. But I'm sure it worked in the gles2 branch at least with other drivers.

I am doing some work on porting firepaint to OpenGL|ES. (I split the GL_QUADS to GL_TRIANGLES and replaced glDrawArrays etc. with GLVertexBuffer). I will post it when I get free time from university commitments.

Hello Daniel, or anyone else affected,

Accepted compiz into quantal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/1: in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
