Bug Description

When moving windows after clicking the workspace switcher or super+s, the CPU usage is much higher than when moving windows when zoomed into a workspace (normal situation).

Also a minor delay becomes visible and lower FPS.

When moving windows in a normal situation I have compiz using about 13-14% of the CPU and Xorg also about 13-14%.

In the workspace overview Xorg uses around 45% of the CPU when moving windows and compiz about 20%.

I also just noticed that in workspace overview Xorg seems to stick to a base load of 20, also when no user action occurs.

With the latest release of unity, there is no "base load". compiz and Xorg both go down to 0-1% CPU usage, but when moving windows the CPU usage goes up as described.

I would like to say Importance=Low. However I have set Importance=Medium because reducing the CPU overhead would probably reduce lag and improve the user experience.

I use NVIDIA 295.49, Ubuntu 12.04 64bit on an Acer Aspire 5738ZG.

I'm suddenly unable to reproduce to problem entirely. Maybe because I'm on battery power. (That's the only thing I changed).

In the current situation it increases Xorg CPU usage only to about 8-9%, but compiz usage still goes up to 20-24%.

The CPU usage increases for both processes when I only drag the window, but don't move it. (As if it was polling for something instead of waiting for an event)

When I then move the window, the CPU usage increases only slightly by 2-4% percent.

oI can longer reproduce the original problem also with net power. So I just have 20 percent compiz on dragging even before moving.

Dimitri, I assume you mean you can "no longer" reproduce the problem... ?

Please change the status back to New if the problem re-occurs.
