Bug Description

When using ppa:vanvugt/compiz-preproposed, which contains a fix for bug 862430, "smart" placement mode places new windows incorrectly.

I open two applications that cannot both be fit on one screen without overlapping. When I use compiz from the precise repositories (0.9.7), the first window is placed in the upper left corner and the second window is placed in the lower right corner -- i.e., they have minimal overlap. When I use compiz from ppa:vanvugt/compiz-preproposed, the second window is placed only halfway down the screen and slightly off the screen to the right. See the attached screenshot.

I am using a WUXGA screen (1920x1200) and have multiple (4) horizontal virtual desktops. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, using NVIDIA driver version 295.40. I get the same result on my other machine using a GeForce GTX 295.
