What version of Ubuntu are you using? What zooming tool are you using? Is this still an issue?

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you could try Hardy once.

I have it on a CD and have tryed it live but it looks like i will have to find some time to install it on a disk in order to test any accelerated graphics related issues.

I did though notice that Hardy leaves you with a blank screen if you try to rotate a 1280x1024 desktop 90 deg to the right and confirmed it on a secound machine (ATI Radion 7000 and Nvidia 8800 GTS). I should probably file it as a bug some where.

One graphics issue seams to have been solved, 7.10 had a blank load screen on the nvidia card but now seams to load properly.

Why have you marked theas 3 topic as duplicates, they are all related to compiz fusion but are not the same issue.

Because you wrote that you don't use Ubuntu anymore and maybe these all caused by the faulty video card driver. Of course if you're willing to test Hardy the marking of duplication can be reverted.

Well as I indicated that was exactly what i intended to do. I have now installed Hardy and this error still presists in 8.04.1 with an Nvidia 8800GTS so please remove the duplicate status.

Hmm, the sync-mouse code is obviously bugged...

The simple solution is:
 - Turn off sync mouse in eZoom
 - Turn on "mouse panning"
 - Turn on "draw scaled mouse"

Now you'll have a far better mode of operation, but you'll have TWO mouse pointers. eZoom _can_ hide it for you with 'hide original cursor', but due to a X Fixes bug, you will then experience an invisible cursor from time to time (firefox loading comes to mind). There's no fix for that, and that's the main reason the horrible "sync mouse" approach is still used by default. Try the above as a workaround, meanwhile someone really should fix eZoom sync mouse stuff ... or X Fixes.... (blargh, that someone is _probably_ me)

Err, replace "solution" with "workaround" in the above comment.

Bug reproduced on 2 separate PCs, running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic
To elaborate, whenever zoom in is triggered with scroll the mouse pinter moves position on the screen, sometimes to another monitor and starts zooming in there sometimes to another location on the same monitor.

Workaround disables the ability to move around the screen when zoomed in
Any more information required of me?

I experienced the problem when I had two monitors active: With the Windows key held down, each click of the mouse wheel rotated "upwards" (to zoom in) causes a seemingly random jump of the cursor about two inches to the left, right or down.

After disabling the external monitor the problem does not occur.

After re-enabling the external monitor the problem re-occurs.

Switching Appearance Preferences | Visual Effects from Extra to Normal does *not* fix the problem.

The workaround described above *does* fix the problem. Specifically, in 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx), I do:
$ sudo aptitude install compizconfig-settings-manager
$ ccsm
In the CompizConfig Settings Manager window, click the Enhanced Zoom Desktop icon.
Click on the Mouse Behaviour tab.
De-select Sync Mouse.
