Put Left and Put Right do not toggle between different grid sizes

The Put Left and Put Right commands (Ctrl-Alt-KP4, Ctrl-Alt-KP5) used to move the window to the side, and with consecutive keypresses toogle between different grid sizes. This behavior has stopped since the latest update, and now the window only snaps to half the screen.

All the other side commands (Put Top Left, Put Bottom Right, etc...) worked as before, toggling between 3 different grid sizes.

The fix for bug #862260 was supposed to correct this behavior, but it doesn't. This looks like a regression bug.

Bug #876591 shows a related issue, but the patch provided does not fix the Put Left and Put Right problem.

I'm affected by this bug, and for me, it's not a dupplicate of #878516 which is about size restoration, this one is about switching between various width when using ctrl-alt-4 or ctrl-alt-6, so the window can take 1/2 of the screen, or 1/3, or 1/4, or 3/4, or 2/3… this was a very useful feature, and it diseappeared some time ago. It's not back in precise yet. Can someone restore it?
