compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in CompWindow::outputRect() from DecorWindow::computeShadowRegion() [decor.cpp:94]

changed some unity plugin settings, but probably more significant, enabled the application switcher plugin and had it take over Alt-Tab. This is required to give the unity UI any kind of sane window switching
