tomboy window doesn't move to front on activation

Bug #876723 reported by pd5rm on 2011-10-17

Compiz Core
compiz (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

I am aware of the other focus related bugs, but thought I'd submit another scenario.

1) I activate tomboy through the notification panel by choosing one of the notes.
2) I see a window come up with notes.
3) I click on other windows. The notes windows is hidden below the other ones.
4) I do step one, and I see icon wiggle and arrow indicator turn slightly blue, but the now hidden window is not brought to front (i.e. made visible)

If I click on the unity panel's icon for tomboy, the window does appear.

This could be a unity, notification panel implementation, or compiz issue (or something else!) issue.

Sorry, I should've added that this is all on 11.10, and worked on 11.04.

dpkg -s unity | grep Version
Version: 4.22.0-0ubuntu3

dpkg -s compiz | grep Version
Version: 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu3

dpkg -p indicator-appmenu | grep Version
Version: 0.3.1-0ubuntu2

Hi! I can confirm that this bug exists in 11.10 but in testing in 12.04 it appears to be fixed.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Compiz, in particular, is in heavy development and this bug may have been fixed in the development version of Ubuntu (12.04) if not on the current 11.10 release. If you are able, it would be of great help if you could confirm if the bug still exists by testing a livecd (available at Please keep in mind that the development version (12.04) is not suitable for daily use - please only use it for testing purposes.

Thank you for your help and patience.
