minimised windows remain invisible but become activated on switching viewports

Bug Description
1) Logon.
2) Open a window. Note position/size and right-click menu behaviour.
3) Minimise.
4) Move mouse to now vacant window area and right-click. Note the expected (correct) behaviour : desktop right click menu is shown.
5) Switch viewport away, and then return.
6) Move mouse to still vacant window area and right-click. Note the unexpected (and INcorrect) behaviour : window right click menu is shown. If you left click, you're liable to do a lot of other things without realising.
I am running ubuntu 12.04.01 64bit, with Compiz 0.9.7.8 as standalone desktop manager. Unity plugin is disabled.
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series, fglrx driver (2:8.960-

Behaviour still exists in 0.9.7.12 and is easy to replicate.
