This one is kinda interesting...

For strange reasons, I was mucking around in /proc and ended up in a multi threaded application rsyslogd, and I ended up crashing command-not-found, with the very simple cat cmd....

root@pushmaster100:/proc/405# ls task/
405 406 407 408
root@pushmaster100:/proc/405# cat  /proc/sys/kernel/panic
Sorry, command-not-found has crashed! Please file a bug report at:

Please include the following information with the report:

command-not-found version: 0.2.44
root@pushmaster100:/proc/405# cat cmdline |strings
rsyslogd
root@pushmaster100:/proc/405#

I tried it again with the true cmd...

root@pushmaster100:/proc/405# true  /proc/sys/kernel/panic

It seems to be cranky around /proc, sometimes the command will fail, sometimes it wont. I only showed the failure cases above. Good luck, and thank you for putting bug information directly in the crashing process.

Hi

Thanks for reporting this.

I would recommend that you read my blog on this topic:

http://blog.suxx.pl/2013/04/why-is-command-not-found-crashing.html

Were you connecting remotely?
Were you typing and then hitting backspace to erase any part of the
buffer before hitting enter?

Thanks
