Bug Description

we run serveral (100+) zeo instances on our servers and have packing and backup recipes running in daily cronjobs. for our usecase it would be a benefit if there was an option for the zeopack script which completely removes the packed file after successfull packing.

You can specify "pack-keep-old = false" in the "plone.recipe.zeoserver" section, which does exactly what you are asking for.

cool. thanks for that ... as far as i can see, this feature is only in the new plone.recipe.zeoserver but not in prior plone.recipe.zope2zeoserver. it would be nice for my non eggified Zope instances to have that feature too ...

The feature was added in ZODB3 3.9.0 which doesn't work with older Plone / Zope / Python versions. So I'm afraid you'll have to upgrade to get this.
