I hit this problem today too, with Coccinella 0.96.10. My system is Gentoo amd64. The error message is substantially the same:

couldn't load file "/opt/coccinella/bin/unix/Linux/i686/treectrl/8.5/libtreectrl2.2.so":
/opt/coccinella/bin/unix/Linux/i686/treectrl/8.5/libtreectrl2.2.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

Can you try to compile tktreectrl (download at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=69413&package_id=68333&release_id=631777 ) and then replace /opt/coccinella/bin/unix/Linux/i686/treectrl/8.5/libtreectrl2.2.so with the new binary?

I tried this and now coccinella complains that tktreectrl is not the correct version: I downloaded 2.2.8 but it wants 2.2.6. Unfortunately source for 2.2.6 does not seem to be available at sourceforge.net; the list of packages available for download jumps from 2.2.5 to 2.2.7.

Try again after you change the version number in /bin/unix/Linux/i686/treectrl/pkgIndex.tcl Does this work?

Yes, that seems to work -- at least the application started up OK and I was able to create an account.
