Avatar of contacts using Pandion not shown

Bug Description

The avatar of contacts using Pandion is not shown in Coccinella. I guess Pandion does not support the required avatar spec. I'm not sure if this should be fixed. It may be better to focus on XEP-0084 instead (see link).

I read from the XEP: It is intended that this specification will
supersede both IQ-Based Avatars [6] and vCard-Based Avatars [7] once
the PEP subset of XMPP publish-subscribe is implemented and deployed
widely enough.

So this bug report I interpret as a wish to add pubsub to the list of
supported avatar methods. Since I already have IQ-Based Avatars [6]
and vCard-Based Avatars this will be the *third* method.

Pandion is using jabber:iq:avatar protocol which is deferred according to xmpp.org.
It is not even in the default listing there. However, the support is there, just edit as:

    # Use a priority order if we have hash from both.
    variable protocolPrio {vcard avatar}
    #variable protocolPrio {vcard}

and then you will get it. But, the avatar I get from Pandion has no mime type set so it is hard for the image handlers to figure out what to do. Fact is that it succeeds but somehow it is not displayed.

So, this bug is fixed or not?

I need to figure out why the avatar was not displayed first, then I
switch off support for jabber:iq:avatar forever. The logic of this is
not perfectly clear to me... Anyhow, I can place support for it in
config()

Can this issue be expected to get fixed in 0.96.12 release of Coccinella?

No, next release will contain few changes. See also: http://coccinella.im/mats-bengtsson If you can find somebody who can contribute a patch for this issue, I can include it in next release if it is good.
