This is just a bug entry to collect ideas for tips.

* hidden XML console

You want to add a "tip of the day" feature? Is that really helpful? Most users will not read it and will be annoyed of, I am sure. I would prefer a good FAQ section on the website perhaps accessible per coccinella menu entry and searchable.

It already exists. It just is disabled for the time being as there are no tips yet. Note that this dialog will have a "Do not show this again" option and will be also accessible from the Info menu.

A FAQ on the website already exists btw.

If any of my most imortant apps had a "tip of the day" feature I would deactivate it on the first run. And I believe that most people will act like this. When I want to quickly login to jabber to contact somebody I don't have the time to read tips. That's why in my mind tips are very helpful but not where they only annoy most of the users.

I am now convinced, for unexperienced users this might be the only chance to get them understand and use all the features. So here are some ideas for tips:

You want to start from 0? This could be a helpful first tip (to prevent the question: Where has coccinella gone:).
You can click on the coccinella besides the clock in the taskbar to make the contacts list disappear/reappear. If you close coccinella by clicking the X it will be hidden...
But I would include this tip in a elaborate how-to for new users describing in short how/where to get a jabber account and in detail how to make coccinella use this account, how to add first buddies.

How to add buddy icon (valid sizes, formats)

If exists (I still don't know): How to change preferences only available per config-files.

What the whiteboard is for and how cool it is :)

Introduce chatrooms as a possibility to talk to many users at the same time.

What a transport is and what the profits are.

Perhaps what you can learn from the "services" tab.

After adding the scrollbar via the -yscrollcommand the window gets larger/smaller when jumping through the tips and the scrollbar appears/disappears.

Further it is possible to click into the text, and edit it. The text should not be editable.

Additionally, resizing the window is not very nice:
* Coccinella logo gets hidden
* there is no minimum size for the window
* buttons do not stick to the corners of the window

Idea for tip:

this is already possible
just add "/resourcename" to your Contact ID
the advantage of this is that this advanced feature is hidden for non-geeks :-)
