Bug Description

When one tries to create a new VM on MS Azure's portal, one can only find 14.04, 16.04 and 17.10 versions of Ubuntu Server images from Canonical. The 18.04 LTS released on 26 April is not yet available:

1. Open portal.azure.com (and log in if necessary)
2. Click "Virtual Machines"
3. Click "+ Add"
4. Click "Ubuntu Server" by "Canonical" (currently 3rd option in "Recommended")

Expected Results:
18.04 would be among the list of available versions shown

Actual Results:
18.04 is not in the list of available versions. One can choose only from 14.04, 16.04 and 17.10

Notes:
Similar results with 1. "Create a resource", 2. enter "Ubuntu Server" into the search box.

Notes:
There seems to be some image available from command line, but unsure about its status given it is not in the Azure Portal: https://lnx.azurewebsites.net/ubuntu-18-04-lts-bionic-beaver-on-azure/

Thanks Robert. In the meantime, I would appreciate knowing if the version "18.04.201804262" of the image in the 18.04-LTS SKU from Canonical can be used for production (i.e. whether the fact that it is not published in the Azure gallery is just a mistake and not an intention). Full specification of the image follows:

$ az vm image list --all --publisher Canonical --offer UbuntuServer --sku 18.04-LTS --output table
Offer Publisher Sku Urn Version
------------ ----------- --------- ------------------------------------------------ ---------------
UbuntuServer Canonical 18.04-LTS Canonical:UbuntuServer:18.04-LTS:18.04.201804262 18.04.201804262

Boris,

Yes, that is the latest 18.04 image in Azure for production as of today. The azure gallery omission is a bug and does not indicate suitability for production.

Hello Boris,

I've been reviewing cloud-images bugs, and I'd like to see if we can close this.

18.04 shows up when you create a VM in Azure now.
