Bug Description

If I use clipgrab to download a song to MP3 only, when I open it in a music player (e.g. Audacious/Clementine) it has a song length displayed of about 30 to 40 minutes when the song is only a few minute long. When the song is played it is the correct length. When played in rhythmbox it is the right length. Only mp3's from clipgrab display this behaviour. I am using 12.04 and get the same behaviour on two different installs.

Hello,
which Ubuntu 12.04 version do you use? The 64 bit or the i386 version?

I just converted audio from a video I had using winff and that had the same problem in clementine, so I don't know if that helps, maybe I should report the bug to them as well.

Hello,
which is the song they have this problem?
I think the problem comes from ffmpeg. WinFF and clipgrab use to convert the ffmpeg program.

Hi sorry, didn't get an email that you had posted!! It is on all videos that I rip to MP3. Some are much shorter and some are much longer. I reported it to clementine as well as I thought that as it didn't happen in rhythmbox it might just something with those player but they reckoned it's something to do with the tags. I have literally just ripped three songs, average length showing as 39:44, 42.34 and 35.50.

This bug report is very old. The bug seems to be fixed in newer versions of clipgrab.
