Bug Description

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

I cannot exit "Full Screen Mode" with either the "Exit full screen (F11)" link, or using the F11 button when the browser is maximized on a second monitor which has no gnome panels.

Steps to reproduce:
1: start a browser instance
2: move the browser to a second monitor which has no instances of gnome-panel
3: maximize the window (double click the title bar)
4: press F11
Browser goes into full screen mode
5: press F11 again

Expected behaviour: browser exits full screen mode and returns to maximized
Actual behaviour: Browser refuses to exit full screen mode.

I've tested this on both of my monitors, with different combinations of gnome panels at the top and/or bottom; chromium only refuses to exit when there are NO instances of gnome panel.

I think this is http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=32347, which was fixed a few weeks ago. Can you try google-chrome-unstable, which should include the fix, to see if it works properly for you? The fix is not in the Chromium 5.x branch. Alternately, you can grab a nightly build from http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/ to test.

This might not be totally a chromium issue: when compiz is turned on I'm unable to reproduce with chromium 5.

I've just tried the nightly build (chromium 7) and it half works. I press F11 to go into full screen, I'm then offered two options to get out of full screen: 1 - by pressing F11 again; or 2 - by clicking the "Exit full screen (F11)" link. If I click the link it fails to exit full screen, but if I press F11 it works as expected.

Wrong tie in, #32347 entails restarting in full screen, not being unable to leave it.
