I would like to bring a couple bugs in particular to the attention of the Ubuntu release team in case they might be critical:

#553328: After the checkbox application is closed, the backend process keeps running and consumes a significant amount of processor resources.

#550973: This is a requirement of the Launchpad team which would very much appreciate if this fix could make it into Lucid.

That's bad, but not critical and the queue for post-RC fixes is already quite large, so I suggest deferring this to SRU.

That's not how I read the bug; I think it's clear from Gary's last comments that they acknowledge exceptions are appropriate in some cases, and since the referrer policy is intended to address referrer vulnerabilities in web browsers, which should AIUI never be the interface used for submitting to the hwdb, this isn't actually important to fix at all in the final analysis?

Overall I would draw the conclusion that the bugfixes should be pushed to SRU.

Marc Tardif (cr3) wrote :

The Launchpad folks nonetheless expressed interest in having this change pushed to an LTS release so that the exception can eventually be removed. This is not a huge deal though, as expressed in the related bug report, and should be fine as an SRU which will implicitly make it to the next point release. Thanks for the review, much appreciated!

Now that Lucid has been released, can this bug be used to propose an SRU?

Martin Pitt (pitti) wrote :

No, please don't. Use the actual bugs for SRU requests, i. e. add an Ubuntu task, a lucid task, check if it is appropriate for SRUs, and subscribe ubuntu-sru. Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Fixing%20several%20bugs%20in%20one%20upload for the rationale and procedure. Thanks!

Hello Marc, or anyone else affected,

Accepted checkbox into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!
