Bug Description

For a given charm name, we should collapse/group the search results by name (preserving sort if applied). Else we get this listing that is mostly duplicate results of various confusion.. ie. searching for ceph, should show ceph charm once (instead of 10 times for all the ppa versions) for the current lts series, with a ui to suggest there are 10 similiar matches, and option to expand out the results. At the moment a ceph search shows 44 results, with the the top 10 all roughly duplicates of each other.

elasticsearch doesn't support this natively ('facet collapsing') so it would need to be done via post search results processing.

I don't think this is something we will commit to do in the next 6 months, but I would love to see this fixed in a few weeks. Grouping the alternate charms together would make it easier to read the listing and understand my the choices.

We do plan on improving this story, but not quite as you describe. Also, other aspects that you and others have raised (e.g., always searching on substring) are much higher priority.
