@thedac MAAS supports providing an apt cache via the http_proxy setting [1] which will be used by the region controller and any commissioned nodes.

Its actually possible to use openstack-origin in this way - it supports the format:
<url>
so you can mirror locally, and then tell the charm to use the local mirror on deployment.
Caveat - you must maintain the same naming in the local mirror which is openstack series aligned, otherwise the charm won't know which openstack version its using!

ubuntu- cloud.canonical .com is a server in the UK so debs are very slow from the US.
Ed is requesting the ability to use a local deb-proxy provided by maas to provide openstack debs rather than going to the UK for these.
