CockroachDB is an innovative database that is drawing more and more attention from the community. The team is very skilled with a track record of great products but it is really small (4) and they are currently working on their free time and all have other jobs.
CockroachDB is interesting on several levels:
1. It is written in Go!!!
2. It kind of aims at being an autonomous micro service (single binary, designed for scale out so probably within Heroku 12 forces) which is exactly what Juju manages well
3. There are usecases with Docker and Deis so we could have a multi-facette charm that can deploy to containers and to standard hosts depending on the environment
The team does not deny interest in Juju but are currently working really hard on getting a beta up & running, hence additional brains and keyboards would help :)
