This is the server piece that runs conversat.io. The server is a small nodejs app that connects the browsers together, which then can do a Google Hangout-like video conversation via WebRTC.
That means no plugins, no google logins, etc, you can just run a Hangout like service on your own. It currently needs Chrome or a Firefox Nightly with peer connection enabled; but it would be a nice Free Software alternative, especially as the performance is quite good, you can try it here: http://
