Rabbitmq RSS check misleading

The rabbitmq nrpe check measures RSS of the Rabbit process per the Rabbit PID in /var/lib/rabbitmq. However this is the PID of the /usr/lib/rabbitmq/bin/rabbitmq-server starter process which is typically p. low. Typically the more interesting resource metric would be from the beam process (the Erlang VM rabbitmq is running in).
