The AUTOMATIC behaviour only permits addresses in subnets attached to the local unit to be considered as permitted - rather than the full RFC1918 range as I thought was documented.

This is very much a behaviour bug - the charm should work in a L3 routed topology as it does not require the use of VIP's or suchlike.
