Bug Description
A large backlog of measures in gnocchi often indicates something is awry - either gnocchi or the backend storage is not up to the volume of data being presented.
It can also happen if the backend storage is bust in some way - I saw this when a number of ceph pgs when inactive - the io freezes and the metricd worker will lockup - in the end they all lockup and measures don't get processed.
Monitoring this via Nagios/NRPE would be good.
