Bug Description
Trying to create an encrypted OpenStack volume as described here [1] I get error 500 from barbican:

A side note: the escape sequence '\x1b[00m' is being somehow logged by barbican due to some reason.

Please could you help us scope the bug more by providing:
* Sanitized bundle that can be used to re-produce the issue (or where the issue exists)
OR:
* Ubuntu version, charms versions, OpenStack version.
* Config for barbican, vault, cinder, nova-compute
Any relevant logs from the various units involved OR a juju crashdump.
