Bug Description

This is an actual bug in Celestia, not Ubuntu.

I found on my Slackware system, that I could crash Celestia by slowing time down to around 1e-12 (as an aside the top left time rate shows up peculair things too). It appears to be a maths overflow of type double.

I have submitted a small patch that fixes this - perhaps needs including in Ubuntu celestia package.

Full report and patch here:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2059401&group_id=21302&atid=121302

I have also attached the patch (made against Celestia 1.5.1 version).

Yes, but as explained I filed a big report with authors of celestia - it has been ignored.

I guess just patch up the Ubuntu version to stop this behaviour.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and include a patch. I tried recreating the bug report and was able to slow down time until it stopped on the Jaunty Jackalope. I was wondering if you were running Celestia on i386 or amd64. Thanks in advance.
