Bug Description

I'm trying to enable canonical-livepatch but I keep getting an error about the freezer cgroup. See below:

$ uname -a
Linux laptop-ubuntu 4.15.0-29-generic #31-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 17 15:39:52 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release: 18.04
Codename: bionic

$ sudo snap remove canonical-livepatch
canonical-livepatch removed

$ sudo snap install canonical-livepatch
canonical-livepatch 8.0.2 from 'canonical' installed

$ sudo canonical-livepatch enable REDACTED
cannot open freezer cgroup (/sys/fs/cgroup/freezer): No such file or directory

This looks like a snapd problem.

Hello.

Could the reporter please explain their system customization a little? The freezer cgroup is mounted by default in all versions of Ubuntu. Is this perhaps running in a unified cgroupv2 mode?

What is the output of:

cat /proc/self/mountinfo

cat /proc/cmdline
