Bug Description

Choose "Log Out" on any Launchpad page.

What happens:
------------
You have been logged out

You are now logged out of the Launchpad Login Service website. However, you have not been automatically logged out of every website that uses this website.

Log back in to Launchpad Login Service
© 2004-2011 Canonical Ltd. • Get the code • FAQs • Contact SSO Support
Launchpad account management is provided by the Ubuntu Single Sign On service
------------

Four problems with this:

1. The text implies that I am not actually logged out of Launchpad.

2. If that's not what you mean, then what on earth is a "website that uses this website"?

3. The word "website" is used three times in 26 words. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_satiation>

4. "You are now logged out of the Launchpad Login Service website" and "Launchpad account management is provided by the Ubuntu Single Sign On service" seem to contradict each other.

Fixing bug 123734, by abolishing the logout page, would be one way of fixing this bug.

The first problem here is that Launchpad still isn't sending a return URL so SSO doesn't know which site you've just logged out of. This is addressed by bug #451336. Once that's implemented, the wording will be different and we can take a closer look to see if this bug has any further actions.

I'm not sure whether you meant to mark this as Incomplete. If you did, what further information do you need to reproduce the problem? Thanks.

@mpt: We can reproduce the issue but it's being caused for the conditions you describe by LP not sending enough data to us in their logout request (see bug #123734 and bug #451336). I marked this bug as "Incomplete" because we don't know if you'll still want some changes to the logout page after those bugs are fixed. If you're happy that those would be a sufficient fix for this bug then we can set this bug as "Invalid".

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I just can't tell whether either of those would fix this bug. As I said in the original report, fixing bug 123734 would be one way of fixing this bug, but it would not be the only way -- and that you mention "the logout page" suggests that's not going to happen for a while. Another way would be just to change the wording, and you say "the wording will be different". But there's no mention in bug 451336 of what that wording will be, and nor do I see any obvious strings in the merge diffs, so I can't tell whether that would fix this bug either.
