Bug Description

I logged into SourceForge using my Launchpad single sign-on. On the "Authenticate to" page, it contains the text:
"If you proceed, the following information will be available to the website: "
SourceForge is asking for my Time zone, Full name, Username, Email address and Preferred language. Next to these five fields is a checkbox (unchecked by default). It is unclear what these checkboxes mean.

If they are unchecked, will Launchpad not provide that information? What else could they be for? There should be an explanation of what these checkboxes mean.

I agree. If the text remains as "If you proceed, the following information will be available to the website", then IMO the checkboxes should be checked by default. If we don't want to (or can't) have the checkboxes checked by default, then I think we need to change that string. Perhaps something like "The website has requested the following information, please select the information which you are happy to send:"

Changed in canonical-identity-provider:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Low

Thanks Michael. I like your suggestion with, perhaps, a small change to "The web site has requested the following information; please choose what you would like to send:"
