Password/Username corrupted or changed in time

Bug Description

This bug pertains to the authentication of users at https://login.launchpad.net/

I user Lastpass to store passwords securely and to fill forms, which works well with this site as well. However, when I haven't logged into the launchpad.net for a while (not sure, may 30 or 60 days), then my username/password is not recognised anymore. If I use the password reset link, and then use the exact smae random password I had before, I can log in immediately.

Of course, I cannot inspect the launchpad logs, so someone will have to investigate what happens and what causes this. This has been happening for literally years and I have always thought to open a bug about this, but never did, but now I have taken the time do it. Hopefully someone will look into this and fix it.
