Bug Description

Since installing OTA10.1 on my BQ Aquaris 4.5 I have frequent locks of the user interface. When that happens the touch-screen does not react to any input.

However, the system seems to work in the background. When I log in using ssh I can execute commands even while the screen is locked. Also the power button seems to work, the screen switches on and off.

Also, but I don't know if it's related. After a few days of uptime apps crash shortly after starting them. I have observed this with the phone and the contacts app.

Can gather and provide logs, if needed.

Thanks.

I seem to be having the same problem recently on a Nexus4 with rc-proposed/ubuntu-pd - I'm currently on Version 201. A total screen lockup. And when I can get to unlock the phone, I cannot swipe between apps from the right or bring the launcher up from the left of the screen. However, during this time, gestures from both bottom and top of the screen work fine.

Sometimes, if I leave the phone and return to it, everything is normal again.

And sometimes if I turn the screen off and back on again (with a tap of the Power button), normal behaviour resumes, but more often than not, I have to restart the phone. Bizarrely, everything works perfectly after a restart (suggesting that it is not a hardware fault) but the behaviour soon returns.

As above, ssh and adb seem to work fine even when these screen lock-up problems are occurring.

I have to add, strangely enough the behaviour disappeared about a week ago. And this without doing any updates, I didn't encounter any freezes anymore, even when I was using it for several minutes. Before it would at lease freeze once or twice (but I actually never had to reboot because of that).

The only explanation I have for that behaviour is that it was somehow externally influence, like some kind of sync (to Ubuntu One?). AFAIK was OTA10.1 released because there was some kind of security issue with the store, so that might be related.

It also occurs with Telegram with a blank page just after launching it,
same for messaging-app, contact-app, browser-app, and gallery.
It seems to be related to OTA-10.1 and it is a general problem.
Using a BQ Aquaris 4.5 with standard applications (krillin).

@ren that sounds like a completely different issue than this bug describes. I would check that you are free disk space and you can try deleting the cache at .cache/QML/Apps as perhaps it became corrupted somehow. Otherwise please file a new bug with all your information.

About a week ago I installed OTA-11.

While I never had a complete freeze of the UI anymore, I have the feeling the phone app is freezing more now. Almost every time I change context into the app I have to wait for approx one minute. Once I was even not able to pick up an incoming phone because the slider would not react.

So, the problem now seems, at least for me, to be isolated to the phone app.
