no thumbnail generated for video in slideshow view

Bug Description
rtm 184 image on krillin
Steps to reproduce:
1) record a video with the camera-app
2) when done, swipe to the right to display the slide show view
Expected results:
- a thumbnail of the video should appear in the slideshow view
- the thumbnail should also be displayed in the grid view
Actual results:
- no thumbnail is displayed in the slideshow view after spinning for a long time, it seems to time out. This doesn't always happens but does happen roughtly 25-50% of the time
- the thumbnail is always properly displayed in the grid view

How long is the video you are testing? If it is very short, then this could be a dupe of 1391286 (to which there is already a fix).
If the video is longer, does the thumbnail show up when loaded in other contexts (i.e. video scope)?
