Bug Description
In addition to adding eBooks into Calibre via GUI or dragging ebook into library or onto icon, we should be able to add eBooks to our Calibre library by dropping the eBook into a special folder. iTunes has this feature and I find it very helpful. Specifically, this will enable us to add an eBooks to Calibre content server running on a computer remotely. For example, I have Calibre running its content server on a Mac Mini at home. It allows me to access my eBook library from anywhere I have internet access. Sometimes I download a book when I am away from home, i.e. work, and would like to add it to my Calibre content server. Currently, I don't think I can do this (unless this is already possible, then please tell). Since I do not have direct access to the Calibre application, running on my Mini, I cannot add eBooks unless I am directly on my Mini.
However, if we could drop or copy an eBook into a specific folder on our remote server computer (which can be done via FTP, WebDav, afp, nfs, etc), then I see us having the ability to add a book to our content server. Another way to do this would be to access my Mini through screen sharing and then drop the eBook into Calibre, but this would require another computer. I feel dropping an eBook file into a Folder would be much easier and could be done from a device as simple as our cellphones. (yes, screen sharing can be done on our iPhones, but software is expensive).
