calibre tries to access my floppy drive constantly when the application is running

Bug Description
running verion 0.8.24 but this has happened consistently for serveral versions now.
OS windows 7 Professional
whenever I run the program it will frequently and randomly try to access my floppy drive, which since I rarely use it anymore & there's never anything in it these days just causes the annoying "trying to access" grunting type noise that's particular to a 3.5" floppy.
