Bug Description

Hi, again about issue filed with no. 2068756 and closed as invalid.

Thank you for for answer, quoted here:

"This is caused by having a certificate with trailing data after its end
in the Windows certificate store. See https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/108721
for details. You can browse the store looking for recently added
certificates and delete them and you should be fine."

I checked the certificates in certlm.msc, under "intermediate certification authorities", as explained in the web page you pointed me to, but I can't see any unusual or new certificate.

Maybe Calibre 7.12 uses a different version of the python libraries than v. 6.29 and the bug is in there?

Thank you.

Best regards
Raul

Yes the issue is caused by python version 3.11 and the presence of a
certificate with trailing data in the windows certificate store. You
need to either find and remove that certificate or wait till the version
of python used in calibre is updated to 3.12 which is the earliest
version of python with the fix, but python 3.12 has many other
incompatibilities so it wont be anytime soon.

Changed in calibre:
status: New → Invalid

FWIW: one other user who had this problem fixed it by removing old Visual Studio certificates in the "personal" certificate store.

Thank you for your help.
I checked the certificate store, but in the Personal store there are no vs
certificates.
