Bug Description

If calbre main program is running when my pc turns off due to power cut (ups is not working!😑) it's interface and library settings completely resets. libraries themselves aren't affected but I have to add all the existing libraries and reedit the tool bar and menus.

version: calibre 5.37 [64bit]
operating system: Windows

Thank you

I cannot replicate this, indeed the only way I can see it happening is
if calibre was actually writing updated settings when the power died.
Which should be very unlikely.

That said I could possibly change it to do the write atomically, which
will avoid this issue.

I first thought it Happened when I was downloading some books using fanficfare plugin but then it Happened twice when I was not doing anything like that.

If it is happening when nothing is going on then something else is the
matter, I doubt my fix will change anything, but feel to try.

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every alternate Friday.

The issue is still there. This time it happened when I properly shutdown the pc (though I did not close the calibre main program.) Is there a way to backup the settings in the main program that I'm loosing (set of my libraries and the toolbar settings are the most important). I suppose reinstalling windows will solve this issue.

I forgot to mentioned it but when this issue happens(sometimes?) the program starts like I installed it for the first time, confirming the last used library location (which is the only library that it remembers) and even adding "Quick Start Guide - John Schember.epub" to that library.

You can access the configuration directory via
Preferences->Miscellaneous and siply copy it out to back it up.
