Bug Description

Click on Preferences, then click on Searching (under Interface), then click on the button Clear search _histories. It used to clear all the search histories, which was a great way of cleaning up the history list and starting again, cleanly.

Now it just duplicates the clearing of the current filter (or 'search') that shows a filtered view of the books in the database.

I'm using the Linux version of 5.34. This change in functionality occurred several versions ago. I had waited patiently hoping for it to be restored, but it has not. (I am running Linux Mint 20.2.)

Is it possible to restore the previous, useful behaviour, please?

Thank you!

It still works, you just have to restart calibre for the history to be
actually cleared, this will be fixed in the next release.

Thank you, but my search list is staying around through restarts.

I often open and close Calibre several times in a day, and today I have opened it and closed it at least 5 times. The search list is sticking.

Most nights, I clear ~/.cache and reboot the machine as well. The list of old search terms is still showing.
