Transfer collections to Kobo fails

Bug Description

When I connect my Kobo Clara to Calibre and transfer books to it, the collection information is missing on my device. This is apparent within Calibre as well as on my device. It happens on Calibre 5.23, windows 10 version 21H1.

I have metadata completed for both series and tags. The Kobo is supposed to (and used to) use the tags to create collections, but it doesn't transfer the metadata across and so the collection is not created (or the book added to an existing collection).
Thank you

For the collection management to be done automatically when the device is connected, you need:

The driver to be configured for collection management.
A common problem with this is changing between the built-in KoboTouch driver and the KoboTouchExtended driver. They do not share settings, so if you change, you need to copy the settings to the one you are going to use.

Calibre must match books on the device with books in the library. Which will be shown by ticks against the books that are matched. Only matched books will have collections changed.

The "Metadata management" option on the "Sending books to devices" page of the settings to be set to automatic. This is the most commonly reason the collection management is not done.

If all of the above are correct, then the collections should be updated. If after checking these, and the collection management is still not done, run calibre in debug mode and post the debug log after connecting the device. This usually shows what is going on.
