Good to know, I can use the right and left arrow keys to select text but not the up and down arrow keys? I'm used to using the shift + arrow to select text and as you said it's fairly universal, wouldn't it better to have it as the default shortcut?
shift+arrowleft and shift+arrowright were assigned to back and forward
in the viewer long before this functionality existed. And yes there is
no support for up and down arrow keys as implementing it is too much
work for, patches welcome.
Now when you can alter the selection by a line, it would make sense for shift + arrow left and shift + arrow right to change the selection by a character instead of a word. It is also usually the case in other programs .
The keys Ctrl+Arrow Left and Ctrl+Arrow Right is commonly used to move to the next word. Is it possible to use Shift+Ctrl+Arrow Left and Shift+Ctrl+Arrow Right to move selection by a word and Shift+Arrow Left and Shift+Arrow Right to move selection by a character to use the same shortcuts that works almost everywhere?
shift+arrow is used fairly universally for selecting words.
