Calibre 5.6 (64bit)
With Preferences -> Look & Feel -> Show layout buttons ticked
Clicking on the Book Details icon (bottom right) a number of times causes the Book Detail panel to become narrower by (probably) one pixel at a time.
A minor error and probably not worth fixing but I thought I'd report anyway.

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every alternate Friday.
