E-book viewer: removed bookmarks are still there

Bug Description
1. Open the main Calibre program, double-click on the Quick Start Guide. The Guide opens in E-book viewer.
2. Add a few bookmarks.
3. Remove them all.
4. Try clicking on the "Next" and "Previous" buttons in the Bookmarks panel. Despite the empty bookmarks list, E-book viewer changes the view to the places bookmarked at step 2.
Restarting E-book viewer and/or the main Calibre program doesn't seem to fix the problem.
Calibre version: 5.4.2,
OS: Windows 10 Home 1803.
