Conversion to MOBI uses ORIGINAL_EPUB instead of EPUB

First I used "Polish Book" on EPUB (added soft hyphens). It modified the EPUB file and saved a copy as ORIGINAL_EPUB.

Then I converted EPUB do MOBI using the "Convert books" dialogue. What I found is that the ORIGINAL_EPUB (instead of EPUB) was used as a source file to conversion because the changes made in EPUB were not visible in effective MOBI.

And when I deleted ORIGINAL_EPUB and converted EPUB to MOBI again - all the changes from EPUB were visible in MOBI.

This is by design. The point of ORIGINAL_* is to serve as source for
repeated operations. If you dont want this, either delete it manually or
tell calibre not to generate them in Preferences->Tweaks.

OK, thanks, setting save_original_format_when_polishing = False resolves my problem.

It's however hard for me to understand what's the point of "polishing" ebook if an unpolished version is used to further actions.

Polishing is intended to be the last step not a base for further steps,
just as in furniture, you apply polish last.
