Open image in the viewer with local software

It is better that images when clicking "View image" in the viewer would open the image with a local software, because such software already exist on all OS.

No it doesn't, there is absolutely no guarantee that image vieweing
software exists on the local computer or that an appropriate software
is associated with a given file type.

In that case please add an open with button and don't open the image in full size. Instead fit the image to the view and make it possible to show it in full size. Thank you.

Why? Images are already fit to screen in the viewer itself the whole
pont of opening them separately is to see them at full size.

I thought to point was to see it in bigger size than in the viewer, not in full size because that is very strange when the picture is much bigger than the screen.

Would it be a good solution to add a Fit to screen button instead of making it fit to the screen?

No, the point is to see the picture at full size. You I am guessing have
restricted the viewer text area to be very small. Most people dont do
that, so if they want to see the image at larger sizes they can simply
expand the viewer window. The point of viewing it separately is to see
it at full size.

You are right about me having restricted the viewer text area to be very small but I don't think that is unusual. I think people don't want to interrupt their reading to expand the viewer window just to view a image and then reduce it again.

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every alternate Friday.
