Bug Description

Calibre version 3.47
OS: Ubuntu 19.04 (64 bit)
Calibre Library Location: SD Card (formatted exFAT)

Observation:
  1) Book title "WAR AND PEACE" needs to be renamed to "War and Peace".
  2) Upon renaming (whether via main grid or Edit Metadata popup) Calibre displays an error message about book's existence.
  3) Updated book record fails to open the book itself, although Edit Metadata dialog still has the metadata (opf file still present)
  4) The book file itself is gone forever.

The error message sounds like it might be important, so why not tell us
what it says? ;)

This bug still present in newest versions. This can be easily tested. No error messages appear related to this bug, the book record stays there, the file itself however is forever gone. How can I provide you with more info?

Is this no longer the case?

Ohhhh. It's an exfat filesystem which is a lousy non-case-sensitive filesystem, so that probably would have something to do with it.

I'm afraid buggy filesystems are not supported. Use a standard filesystem like ext4/btrfs/xfs/what have you and you will be fine.
