Bug Description

Calibre 3.40.1 64-bit (Windows 10 64-bit)

Adding books configured as follows:

- Automatically convert added books to the current output format: checked
- Auto-merge added books if they already exist: Overwrite existing duplicate formats

When adding a book that already exists in the library

Expected behaviour: overwrite the existing imported format, then auto-convert to the current output format.

Actual behaviour: overwrite the existing imported format, but not perform the conversion.

Tested importing epub, azw3 and html.

The fix in 3.41.1 is incomplete. After the fix merged books are auto-converted if at least one of the books added is new. However, if all the books already exist in the Calibre library then none of the added books are auto-converted.
