Bug Description

On sideloading any books (epub, pdf)onto Kobo Aura One books are transferred normally but show title as Unknown on Calibre device page. Book title and everything else is OK on the Kobo. Kobo factory reset with no difference. Calibre repair tried too.

'Refresh the kist of books on the device' option in Kobo Utilities turns book titles on Kobo device to 'Unknown'. Deleting from Kobo and reloading from Calibre returns the titles to normal on device, still Unknown on Calibre.

All Kobo-related plug-ins removed and behaviour is the same

Unfortunately, that is a bug in the latest version of the KoboTouch driver built into calibre. The problem has been reported on MobileRead in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313288.

From that and testing, it is happening when the "Metadata Management" option is not set to automatic. This is on the "Sending books to devices" page of the preferences. There are more details in the above thread.

I am working on the fix. It should be ready for the next calibre release. In the meantime, change the above setting (I recommend this for a lot of reasons) or revert to an earlier version of calibre.

I got the notification that my bug report duplicated this one. Thank you very much for that catch. I switched back to 3.35 and made that change given in comment #4. That fixed it for me. I had forgotten to mention that I'm using the Linux 64bit version. Amazingly fast response time! Thanks again.
