option to have comments in single column

could we have an option or tweak to go back to the old format for book details with comments in a single column on the right side? I have spent hundreds of hours putting the tables of contents for anthologies and short story collections into my calibre. I can understand folks wanting to save space, but having the TOC suddenly jump to the left just seems wrong.
