Reading metadata fails when adding many books

When adding a few books metadata reading works but when adding many books it fails and the author is set to Unknown.

I cannot reproduce that, I tried adding 300 books, all their metadata
was read successfully.

It seems to have something to do with the size of the books because it fails with big size books.

Could you please add a feature to update metadata by reading from file content after they have been added? This would fix my problem.

There already is such a feature in the edit metadata dialog.

Thanks! I could only find the way to do it when editing an individual book, is there a way to do it when editing books in bulk? I have many books that I need to update so it would be useful to know.

THe quality check plugin probably has that function.

I don't think it is possible to do with Quality check plugin, I would be grateful if you could add the feature to edit metadata in bulk.

If it is not too much trouble I would really hope for a feature that does set the metadata for many selected books from the format.

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every alternate Friday.
