Ebook editor always shows editing toolbars even when they're empty

Bug Description

Calibre 3.4 64bit, Windows 10 x64
Ebook-editor 64 bit

The main window toolbars can be hidden using Menu->View->Toolbars and using the checkboxes there, which is useful when some of them are empty. But the editor toolbars, the three of them, are visible always, even when they are empty, as shown in the screenshot I'm attaching. Marked in yellow, the three handles of the three toolbars of the editor window.

It doesn't really eat a lot of screen real-estate, but still I think it's a bit ugly, and if some toggles cannot be added to the configuration, at least the toolbars should be automatically hidden when they're empty, IMHO.

I haven't found anything in the configuration to make these toolbars invisible.

Of course, this is a suggestion rather than a bug, as it's a matter of preferences and even then it's purely cosmetic.

As always, thanks a lot for Calibre, and if you need more information, just ask :)

I dont like to do this as it causes a lot fo code complexity (the
toolbars can be made to flaot, re-arranged, etc and having them hidden
when no actions are present complicates those code paths considerably,
for very little gain.

Thanks anyway, Kovid :))

Any chances of implementing checkboxes to disable the editor toolbars like the ones for the global toolbars?

Again, thanks for Calibre :)

Fixed in branch master. The fix will be in the next release. calibre is usually released every alternate Friday.
